The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) recently learned that an employee took home electronic data from the VA without authorization, in violation of VA policies. This data was then stolen when the employee's house was burglarized. The data contained identifying information, including names, social security numbers, and dates of birth for up to 26.5 million veterans and some spouses, mainly from veterans discharged since 1975. Law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and the VA Inspector General's office, have launched full-scale investigations into this matter. The Patriot Guard Riders is a diverse amalgamation of riders from across the nation, with one thing in common besides motorcycles, -- an unwavering respect for those who risk their lives for America’s freedom and security. Their main mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes, as invited guests of the family. Each mission they undertake has two basic objectives: (1) To show their respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities, and (2) To shield the mourning family and friends from interruptions created by any protestor or group of protestors, through strictly legal and non-violent means.
